RIDDOR Free for 3 Years

At a time when there have been some serious accidents within the demolition industry over the last few years, Cantillon has not had an incident that has needed to be reported to the HSE under RIDDOR for over 3 years.   Why is it important to us and how has this been accomplished?

Cantillon believes that nobody should come to work and be injured.   This is the first priority for Cantillon.

Effective communication means that everyone in the Company understands their role and how they fit into the Company.

How have we accomplished this enviable record?   Cantillon’s three-pronged ethos Communication, Training and Inclusion has enabled us to embed a high level of compliance in health, safety and welfare management in the company, for both directly employed personnel and our subcontractors.   Effective communication means that everyone in the Company understands their role and how they fit into the Company.   High level training, by leading industry training providers, has meant that everyone is at the maximum qualification they can achieve.   Inclusion means just that, the workforce is consulted through various methods and not least of all being able to choose equipment to use, such as PPE.

A proactive and robust approach to Health, Safety and Welfare is one of the best ways to show the workforce that the company cares.

A business is defined by its reputation.   A proactive and robust approach to Health, Safety and Welfare is one of the best ways to show the workforce that the company cares.   It is this reputation, both internally and externally, that makes other organisations take notice of our well-developed management system.   This enables our highly regarded record to build further on that good reputation.

Supporting the Green Organisation

We all know the importance that trees have to our local environment and on a more global scale. Trees not only produce oxygen and absorb CO2 but they also are crucial part of our streets, parks and other outdoor spaces.

At Cantillon we love trees and we love knowing that we are contributing to increasing the number of trees around the world.

We have partnered with The Green Organisation and through them we are helping to plant trees where the need is greatest. The trees we plant will provide the following benefits;

  • Food
  • Fuel,
  • Shelter
  • Farming Opportunities
  • Wildlife Habitat
  • Absorbing CO2
  • Preventing Desertification
  • Education

To date we have planted a grand total of 422 trees through our affiliation with the Green Organisation. Every month approximately 9 new trees are planted thanks to our support. Each of these trees throughout their lifetime will help to reduce Cantillon’s CO2 footprint by 1 tonne.

COVID 19 Update – Safely Back to Work

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic we like so many other companies have had to change the way we work to safeguard our employees and the public. We have had to adapt and change both the way our office staff and project teams can operate to remain healthy and safe

As we return to work our foremost concern is to keep our staff and clients as safe as we possibly can whilst continuing to provide the high levels service that we are used to giving on our projects.
A Company team devised a plan which involved the following safety measures.

  • Staggered arrival and break times
  • Social distance compliant office, welfare and changing areas
  • More rigorous cleaning schedules for welfare/office space
  • COVID-19 specific cleaning and PPE stations throughout the site
  • Marshals ensuring that all rules are followed
  • Outside seating areas (where possible)
  • Increased information and reminder posters displayed throughout the site with markings on the floors and walls.

All Cantillon HQ staff are being encouraged to work from home as much as possible. When office work is required we are going above and beyond what is recommended by our government to ensure that our offices are a safe environment.

By keeping our offices and sites operating and safe, Cantillon can continue to offer our award winning enabling and demolition works packages to our clients and to the high standard that they would expect.
