Last month all lorry movements were shut off for the afternoon whilst the Cantillon Cycle safety event took place outside Ilona Rose House.
On a sunny afternoon in Soho the cyclists turned out in droves to have their bikes checked by the bike mechanics onsite, who managed
To see forty bikes over the course of the afternoon. Blessed with good weather the mechanics pumped air to slightly flat tyres and replaced some worn down brakes before handing the happy cyclists over to the Met
Police to have their bikes security marked. Safety and security are paramount when cycling in London and with the aid of the Met Police and Cycle Confident team we made sure the sixty-one
Bikes were marked and registered for security. To raise awareness of vulnerable road users the Met Police ‘ Exchanging Places’ lorry cab was parked up in Mannette Street, a total of twenty-one people
Sat in the lorry cab for a sobering view of the blind spots that lorry drivers have to deal with.
The event was a great success and we hope to be back on September 12th to repeat the process
