One Broadgate Circular Economy Drive

Cantillon Limited are delivering the demolition and enabling works package on behalf of British Land and Sir Robert McAlpine at 1 Broadgate in the City of London.

As part of the project’s sustainability commitment, the team have collaborated to maximise the value of materials being removed and entering the circular economy.

Please take the time to watch this short film which captures some of the good work being done by the project team. McAlpine’s Simon Leek and our own Lawrence Tate and Elpida Christodoulou provide the narrative.

International Women’s Day 2022

Cantillon - International Women's Day

On this International Women’s Day, we would like to celebrate the Women in Cantillon who stand at the forefront, who run sites, who run offices, who provide continuous support to make our business the success it is.

Pushing Circular Economy Boundaries

Cantillon Limited have been pushing the circular economy boundaries for some time, a great example of this being our One Broadgate project, being delivered with Sir Robert McAlpine on behalf of British Land

When Fabrix approached us and asked us to participate in this initiative, reclaiming redundant steel from the demolition process for reuse on their future developments, we simply had to say yes! We worked with Fabrix and AKTII to develop a suitable methodology  to give a substantial carbon reduction for the project.

Cantillon - One Broadgate

Cantillon are currently removing, stacking and loading away the structural steel. This steel is being sent to be cleaned, refurbished and reused.

The steel is removed using a cut & lift technique, with careful consideration when breaking the concrete floors to ensure there is no damage to the steel structure.

Cantillon Named as Company to Watch in 2022

Cantillon Limited are  delighted to have been named as one of the companies to watch in 2022 by Construction News.
“While it is thought that the value of new construction projects may not return to their pre-pandemic level until 2023, that has not stopped many ambitious construction companies from targeting growth in the year ahead.

The demolition specialist Cantillon Limited has landed ever-bigger contracts in the past couple of years, not least a £35m job for British Land on its mixed-use Blossom Street development in east London, which was its first to incorporate a major substructure package.

The company was acquired by Morrisroe Group in 2020, in a move that helped its parent company substantially boost its turnover while offering a range of extra services. Its environmental management work with a network of partners has enabled it to divert all non-hazardous waste away from landfills, helping to repurpose much of what it removes from sites.

The quality of its work, including setting the standard for the industry in respect of its environmental performance, saw it pick up three awards at the CN Specialist Awards (pictured) in 2021.

World Demolition Award Winners 2021

Cantillon are delighted to announce that our Blossom Street project, delivered on behalf of British Land, secured a World Demolition Award in the Urban Demolition over $10m category at last week’s award ceremony in Chicago, USA.

Blossom Street is an incredibly complex and unique project, 18 buildings over 6 plots, all of which required a unique demolition, salvage or retention solution, delivered with a number of significant constraints including its proximity to the mainline track into Liverpool Street, the archaeological and Historic England interests as well as a scheduled ancient monument situated in the heart of the site.

The judges of the awards commented that:

“The temporary works design and installation at Blossom Street, alongside adjacent rail and underground lines, was an incredible engineering achievement”

We are incredibly proud to have delivered this project and to secure this award on behalf of the entire project team.  #CommitAndCollaborate.

On the 1st October we celebrated the Topping Out milestone with British Land PLC at Blossom Street alongside Cantillon which are part of the Morrisroe Group.

The 340,000 square foot mixed use scheme marked the moment by flying a fir tree over the project’s highest point. Fantastic to be involved in this project which will be net zero at completion! #CommitAndCollaborate
