| Cantillon pledges to support Whizz-Kidz | |||
Cantillon has pledged to donate more than £7,500 to young people’s mobility charity Whizz-Kidz as part of a year-long commitment. Since 1990, Whizz-Kidz has changed the lives of nearly 11,000 disabled children by providing them with access to mobility equipment, including powered wheelchairs. The charity also delivers wheelchair skills-training and other life-skills to help their transition from childhood to adulthood. Whizz-Kidz relies on donations in order to continue providing the services they offer for young disabled people. To show their support for the organisation and the work that it undertakes, Cantillon has chosen the charity as its sole beneficiary for the year. The charity was picked following a company-wide vote. “We are delighted to be supporting Whizz-Kidz throughout 2010,” commented Michael Cantillon, Managing Director, “The support they give children with disabilities is invaluable and we are thrilled to be able to offer our help.” Cantillon has pledged to donate at least £7,500 to Whizz–Kidz, a figure that will be further supplemented by a variety of fund raising events undertaken by staff throughout the year, including a sponsored 10K run that six members of the Cantillon workforce are doing in July. Staff will also be volunteering their time as buddies at wheelchair skills training sessions offered by Whizz-Kidz to help young disabled people get the most out of their wheelchair and be safe when out and about. Kat Hopps, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser said, “We are thrilled to have the support of Cantillon this year and would like to say a huge thank you to all their employees who have really got behind the fundraising activities and volunteering opportunities on offer”. |
