In a contract worth just under half a million pounds, Cantillon's skilled demolition team have safely removed two grandstands and other structures at the famous Lingfield Park racecourse, Surrey.

A complete service package was implemented with the minimum of fuss. Cantillon's brief included the soft strip and demolition of 15 buildings, a full rolling programme of asbestos abatement and materials recovery, recycling and re-use. The company also carefully collected and sorted all hazardous materials and removed any health and safety threats.

Timber recovered from the building was put to use for form work and temporary works, concrete and brick material was stockpiled and crushed to be used for the new development's substructure.

The 12-week project was planned to allow business to continue without disturbance. A trench over 200 metres long was constructed to direct gas, water, IT and electricity services to various live buildings nearby.

Leaving a clear site, following contractors can commence the main construction in the best possible workspace.
