| Cantillon was delighted to be appointed as Principal Contractor on the first demolition contract of the £1.5 billion, 170 acre regeneration programme for the Elephant & Castle area of South East London. The London Park Hotel opened at the turn of the century but has been disused for nearly five years. Acting as Principal Contractor for the demolition phase of the project, Cantillon utilised both floor-by-floor and high reach techniques to safely level the structure. As specified by client First Base, the developer acting on behalf of client English Partnerships, the scheme also included soft stripping, asbestos removal, structural investigations and full encapsulation scaffolding. Cantillon’s work was required to be highly sustainable, involving the segregation of all waste at source and providing records of energy usage and C02 emissions for all vehicular movements. Day and night security was again handled by sister company Elliott Thomas and the project was completed in February 2008. |
